NOTE TO OUR DONORS AND THOSE
CONSIDERING A DONATION

The Board of Directors of AIM and the Executive Director understands the stress that has been placed on donors during these very difficult times. Our Executive Director wrote the following letter to our donors, and that is shared with you here.

"The time for giving" in America has been ceaseless for many years now: we are a country in need of each other, and we are a country that cares for each other. We do not discriminate. Whether our countrymen die in flaming buildings, or on foreign soil fighting for that in which they believe - whether we watch them on TV disintegrating physically and emotionally in a foreign tsunami or in domestic hurricanes - it does not matter the venue, we are Americans, and we continue to give. We rise to our best in the face of adversity, no matter to whom the adversity happens, and we do not abandon each other.

The time for giving in America continues, and I am asking you to give to AIM at this time. I am asking for the members of your community who have a disability or life threatening illness and want more of what AIM has to offer. I am asking for those who have suffered brain injury and need to re-enter their lives. I am asking for youth with disabilities who see a life before them that is filled with dreams and colored with discrimination. I am asking for the deaf who are made to feel the alienation of their difference every day of their lives. I am asking for those who need wheelchairs, walkers, computers, and other assistive technology to live independent lives and are denied funding or stonewalled by insurance companies. I am asking for those newly diagnosed, who have no idea how to cope in life, how to redefine what independence means, how to begin again...

You are our community, our neighbors, our consumers, our supporters. I am asking you to rise to the occasion of giving, when I have no right to do so, in the face of all that you have already done. I am asking you to give more to your fellow community members through us, and I hope you will consider my request.

Throughout this time, may peace, safety and happiness fill your life and the lives of our countrymen.

Sincerely;

Diane Elizabeth DeMuth

On behalf of the consumers we serve, our staff, Board of Directors and Executive Director, we thank you for considering a donation to AIM. Please know that it is through your donation that our work continues. Many thanks to you for your generosity from everyone at AIM!
