AIM to host program for special-needs siblings

Sept. 1, 2016

ELMIRA | AIM will begin hosting the Sibshops of the Southern Tier program in September.

The program features monthly gatherings where brothers and sisters of children with special needs can get together for fun and education in a lively, recreational setting.

They can meet their peers, talk about what it's like to have a sibling with special needs with others who "get it," and learn about the services their brothers and sisters receive.

There will also be fun games and activities.

Sibshops is open to children ages 6-11 who have a sibling with a disability.

The first Sibshops gathering will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 24 at AIM's new Elmira office, located at 350 W. Church St.

To get more information or sign up, call AIM at 962-8225.
