AIM to host lottery for new Elmira apartments

A lottery will be held in July that will determine priority for the new affordable housing community for seniors and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities set to open this fall on Maple Avenue in Elmira.

The lottery will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 16 at the Elmira AIM office, 350 W. Church St. to randomly draw applications and establish the priority list. The random drawing will be open to the public.

The lottery will be conducted by Landsman Real Estate Services, which is handling the application and leasing process for CDS Housing. Applications must be submitted by Friday, July 13 to be entered into the lottery.

The apartment complex, being developed by CDS Housing of Webster, will feature 40 units for seniors age 55 and older, with preference given to veterans.

Ten apartments will be reserved for people with I/DD. AIM Independent Living Center is a partner in the project and will provide support services on site.

The apartment complex is expected to open in October.
